Aloha! I'm Kevin Roddy, Information Literacy librarian at Kapi'olani Community College in Honolulu, Hawai'i.

The site contains information about past, present and future professional activities, and professional development plans.

The standard resume template I grew up with is suitable for some situations - view a copy of it here (pdf). But I want site visitors to have more detailed information about what I do for as a community college librarian for the State of Hawai'i.

I manage a Web site called Learning Information Literacy Online (LILO) for the UH system. I help students, faculty, and staff members find information for their needs as a reference provider in Lama Library. I teach people how to use technology to help them achieve their goals one-on-one at their PCs, laptops, or in my office.

In one way or another, I've been involved with computers and technology for the past 34 years of my working life, beginning with:

• the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a IT specialist for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), 1974-1976;
• Pacific Bell as an International TSPS (Traffic Service Position System) operator and later a cable splicer, 1977-1982;
• Associated Students of the University of California (Berkeley), reconciling invoices for the General Books department, 1982-1984;
• Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, conducting searches using Lexis/Nexis and Westlaw for lawyers and legal assistants, San Francisco (1984-1986);
• Oakland Public Library (my first professional librarian position) conducting Dialog and BRS searches and general reference in the Science, Business, and Sociology department, which at the time averaged some 5000 reference requests a month. I helped in the migration from a card catalog to the Dynix Online catalog (1987-1991); finally,
• University of Hawai'i, where I have spent the last 18 years learning and teaching information technology to anyone who will listen to me! :o)
