Laulima For Students: Within A Class

TABS: When you log in, the courses to which you belong are displayed as tabs across the top of the screen (within the blue stripe). To enter a site, click its tab. If you belong to more sites than can be displayed as tabs, those sites will be accessible from the More drop-down list.

You can choose to hide sites (e.g., course sites from previous semesters), or reorder them (i.e., choose which sites to display in tabs), using the Preferences tool in My Workspace.

Discussion and Private Messages: Discussion allows structured conversations that are organized into categories. Site participants can post replies to a topic (a "flat" discussion) or to other replies (a "threaded" discussion). A site's owner can also choose whether or not to allow site participants to post their own discussion topics.

You may view Discussion in a row or column layout. This is a personal preference and changes only your view of the Discussion.

NOTE: Laulima times out within 1 hour of inactivity - typing within a text box is considered inactivity so if you think you will take longer than 1 hour use another work processor then cut and paste your text into the text box.

Resources:

Messages: The Messages tool is a communication tool that allows site participants to communicate using internal course mail. Private messaging between groups is also supported.

Basic Rich Text Editor:

Paste from word feature: Click on the special button

Dropbox: Works the same way as the Resources but it is only between you and your instructor. You can up load your assignment from your class.

Announcements:

Gradebook: It displays on the current status of your grade, not the end grade.

Tasks, Tests and Surveys:

Syllabus: the official outline for your course
